A note from one of my Ookura 1st graders (now a 2nd grader), Aya. It reads: Thank you for teaching us English, Aya (Japanese often refer to themselves in the 3rd person, especially young girls) loves English!
Name tag from Non-chan's takoyaki party. Handmade, it reads "Andrew" in hiragana, one of the Japanese alphabets
Map of where the Hyogo JETs were placed with my group...imagine my disappointment when I was one of only about 10 JETs in the upper half of the prefecture. Now I love it up here.
Note from folks at Dash, a place I hang out at fairly often. They have darts, billiards, PC games, karaoke, ping pong and a great bunch of folks. You can bring your own drinks/food in, or buy it there, and spending the night is also possible. This note reads "To Andrew, did you sleep well? Yesterday's tab comes to 5,000 yen."
My shopping bag and a protection charm from Koya-san Temple in Little Tokyo, where I used to play taiko

i hope you feel better soon! and i'm glad you don't have the swine flu. also, where is the picture hanging in your apartment of your family or, more importantly, of ME?? hahaha
no, but seriously...you should have a family picture up there.
nice pictures and very interesting - are you saving them as souvenirs? and yes, where is your 'family'
nice note from the children
Yeah, I actually don't HAVE a picture of my family, not even on my computer. When's the last time we took a picture together that I got a copy of?
Would it be weird for me to say this is one of my favorite posts? Too bad. I'm saying it. There's something about seeing what you're actually looking at in your home that conveys a sense of place that I really like. I never really thought about it before. You know what? I probably wouldn't have a family photo up either...
I hope you're feeling better and that you're getting some help for your knee.
@Marsha
Yeah, I got the idea when one of my friends was over and she basically told me she was going to look at everything in my apartment that was out because she feels like she knows someone better after that. She spent like 10 minutes looking at stuff in a one room apartment. It's true, though, especially when you don't have much closet space, so everything I own is more or less out in the open.
I love the note from Dash. HELLA freakin' funny. HAHAHA!
